Properties of pharmacokinetics and dosage of antibacterial drugs
in renal failure
As the most antibacterial drugs are removed through the kidneys, the knowledge
of the pharmacokinetic properties of a particular drug in a normal renal
function and its changes induced by kidney failure, are the most important
prerequisites of rational pharmacotherapy. According to the mentioned baselines,
in this article, pharmacokinetic properties (elimination, protein binding,
half-life, volume of distribution) of rade frequently administered and
available drugs, are showen. For practical purposes doses and dosage intervals,
as well as their changes in a renal failure, are outlined.
Key words: antibacterial drugs, renal failure, pharmacokinetic properties.
